Joining Showboat

Showboat is a unique cast of characters. We strive to have fun while working hard for our community. This easy-going, colourful approach often wins us the festival's team spirit award. If nothing else, we get lots of attention and laughs at the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival.

While we play hard, we work hard, too. Rain-or-shine practices are held at the Rideau Canoe Club opposite Mooney’s Bay once a week, starting in May and wrapping up in September.

We're proud to be an inclusive team but we set the bar high, both on and off the water. We ask that you give us your best by attending and working hard at practices. And we ask that you aim to raise at least $300 through the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation every season to donate back to our community. The team is here to encourage and assist you along the way. After all, it's about building a great team for all of us.

We paddle from May through to the end of June and we expect each team member to live by our Paddler Charter.
